Base Building Basics

A good base saves you time on every run. Here’s how to build one that works, without overthinking it.

Pick the right location

Settle near water and resource nodes, on reasonably flat ground. Being close to what you gather most saves you countless trips. You can relocate later with Move Territory, so don’t agonize over the perfect spot.

Start small

Lay your floor first and decide how big you actually need. A compact base is cheaper, easier to defend, and faster to move around. Extend the floor when you outgrow it.

Group your crafting stations

Keep your workbenches and stations close together in one workshop area, with storage right next to the stations you use most. Small quality-of-life wins add up over dozens of hours.

Power and utilities

Once you unlock power, give your generator and connected devices a dedicated corner so you can expand the grid cleanly. Messy wiring early becomes a headache later.

Defense basics

Walls and a single controlled entrance beat an open floor plan when something comes knocking. You don’t need a fortress at the start, just a clear line between inside and outside.
