Mods & Calibration Basics

The upgrade layer most players ignore, and why it quietly decides your damage.

Updated July 21, 2026

Two systems sit on top of your gear: mods and calibration. Together they’re worth more than a whole gear tier, and most new players ignore both.

Mods: where they come from

Mods drop from world content, especially Securement Silos, where clearing every room pays out mods, Energy Links, and materials. Weapons and each armor piece have a mod slot, so a full setup is several mods deep.

Mods: how to choose

Match mods to your loadout’s theme. If your weapon triggers a status effect, stack mods that boost that effect. Generic “a bit of everything” modding wastes the system. One theme, fully fed.

Calibration: free stats you’re skipping

Calibration spends materials to push a weapon’s base stats up several steps (+1 to +6 and beyond at higher tiers). It’s not flashy, but a calibrated weapon simply hits harder every single shot. Before any hard content, calibrate your main weapon as far as materials allow.

The order of operations

Right tier first, then calibration, then mods. A modded, calibrated, current-tier weapon is what “endgame ready” actually means.
